70th Anniversary

We are pleased to announce that this year marks 70 years of operations for the Kittitas County Conservation District.  This is a tremendous milestone and we have planned an Open House event.
We’d like to invite you to join us on March 21st from 1PM to 3PM at the Hal Holmes Center (209 N. Ruby Street, Ellensburg). March 21, 1942 was the date of the landowner referendum held to establish the Kittitas Soil Conservation District. Over 400 landowners voted overwhelmingly in favor of the referendum.  The Cle Elum Conservation District followed in 1947 with a unanimous vote from 77 landowners.  The two districts were combined in 1962.
The Open House will include a short presentation and displays of photographs, reports and other information from the last seven decades.  Please join us to learn more about the history of the district and to celebrate this milestone.
